Insult on top of injury

Today, I went down to the laundry room to - you guessed it - do my laundry. Somebody had pinned a note to the laundry room noticeboard:

This basket was stolen from us in this laundry room about 3 weeks ago. If it's you who took it, I hope you're enjoying it.

Presumably, a picture of the missing basket had been included with the note. By the time I saw the note, the picture of the basket had been stolen too. I wonder whether the two thefts were by the same person.
